FCMB To Build SMEs Capacity Through Training0
First City Monument Bank, FCMB, has disclosed its intention to empower the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, SMEs, through training, capable of enhancing their marketing and managerial skills.
Tagged “FCMB Capacity Building Initiative: Empowering the Nigerian SMEs”, the bank said, the exercise will equip SME operators with necessary skills to effectively grow their businesses.
Speaking at a press conference held in Lagos state, the Executive Director of the Bank for Lagos and South-West, Mr. Olufemi Bakre, said that, the training was conceived to build capacity for SME operators by exposing them to modern skills to assist to realise their objectives. This, he said, is in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, of the bank aimed at adding values to their operations.
According to him, “FCMB realises that SMEs play pivotal roles in the growth of the nation’s economy. We also understand that a number of factors combined to determine the success or failure of the SMEs.”
“We are focused on being a strategic partner to such businesses, considering the huge opportunities they offer in the areas of job creation, poverty eradication and economic development’’, he added, According to him, the empowerment programme is in partnership with the Shopping Internet Services Limited.
He said, the programme involves series of free training and radio programmes, cutting across various topical issues concerning SMEs, adding that the pilot phase of the exercise, which the bank has aptly christened, cluster marketing, kicked-off in Lagos state recently, saying it will be extended to other parts of the country.
